A one-day seminar with the topic of discussion of "How to write scientific articles properly - a brief discussion for health/medical personnels" was organized by MISC (Medical Informatics Study Center) of Gunadarma University at Salemba Campus, Gunadarma University on Februari 2, 2008.



A one-day seminar with the topic of discussion of "How to write scientific articles properly - a brief discussion for health/medical personnels" was organized by MISC (Medical Informatics Study Center) of Gunadarma University at Salemba Campus, Gunadarma University on Februari 2, 2008. The first presenter was Dr. Isnani A. S. Suryono, MS. She is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Medical Journal of Indonesia (MJI), a medical journal published by Medical Faculty, University of Indonesia. She presented a paper on "Preparing the manuscripts for publication in biomedical journals". She explained the types articles which can be accepted by MJI and the requirements in writing format of articles submitted to be published by MJI.

The second presenter was Prof. DR. Dr. Nasrin Kodim, MPH. He is the Editor-in-Chief of KESMAS, Jurnal Kesehatan Masyarakat Nasional, a public health journal published by Public Health Faculty, University of Indonesia. The title of his paper is “Epidemiological evidents in health articles”. He discussed the meaning of epidemiology, the cycle of epidemiological study, the types of validity, and some examples of conclusion making of epidemiological data. DR. Dr. Johan Harlan, SSi, MSc was the third presenter with his paper on “Using Stata for research data processing in health / medical domain”. He described about Stata's strength, basic operation procedures of Stata, and the types of statistical analysis which can be performed in Stata.

The seminar served as a preliminary event for the workshop which will be held in the near future with the similar topic of discussion. The goal of the workshop to be organized later is to to provide training for health and medical personnels, hence they can produce well-qualified articles to be published in health / medical journal, whereas the preliminary seminar aims to encourage its participants to obtain necessary skills in producing such well-qualified articles.
