Seminar on Implicit Learning


Faculty of Psychology, Gunadarma University in cooperation with L.E.A.D (Laboratoire d’Etude del’Apprentissage et du Développement), Burgundy University,  France, presents Seminar on Implicit Learning .

The seminar was held in the Auditorium of Kampus D, Gunadarma University on Friday, November 2nd, 2007.  The seminar was opened by the Coordinator of Research Institution, Gunadarma University. Prof.  Dr. Yuhara Sukra, MSc. on behalf of Gunadarma University Rector, Prof. Dr. E.S. Margianti, S.E. MM ; and attended by 300  participants.

The participants were from the undergraduate and master degree students from the Faculty of Psychology, Gunadarma University and also colleagues from other universities such as the Persada Indonesia University, Diponegoro University, Muhammadiyah Surakarta University, Pelita Harapan University, Paramadina University, Satya Wacana Catholic University, Tarumanegara University and University of Indonesia. Moderator of the seminar were Ms. Isabell Lecomte, MA. and  Mr. Hendro Prabowo, MSi from Gunadarma University.

The main topic of the seminar was on the concept of Implicit Learning. Implicit Learning is a concept to understand the processes of learning unconsciously, which emphasize in children by the first speaker Prof. Annie Vinter from L.E.A.D (Laboratoire d’Etude del’Apprentissage et du Développement), Burgundy University, Dijon, France.  She mentioned the definition of implicit learning, how to study this learning phenomenon in laboratory settings, the developmental approach, the experiments currently in progress, and the conclusion of implicit learning as a useful learning mode.The second speaker, Prof. Sri Hartati R. Soeradijono, MA., PhD. from University of Indonesia, mentioned about the challenge for psychologist and psychology scientist in Indonesia in exploring the concept of implicit learning.  The concept of implicit learning could be studied in harmony with the diversity of culture in Indonesia and it is should be studied because of the needs for analyzing human behavior from the cognitive perspective.
