Thesis Defence of Doctoral in Information Technology Debyo Saptono

Doctoral Program Gunadarma University conducted the 41th doctoral thesis defence in Information Technology which was held on the 5th of January 2012 at Gunadarma University Auditorium, Campus D, Jl. Margonda Raya, Pondok Cina, Depok. Doctoral Candidate in this thesis defence was Debyo Saptono, who defended his thesis title “Algorithm Development and Prototype Maker Software Quickly into the FPGA”.

Doctoral Candidate in this thesis defence was Debyo Saptono, who defended his thesis title “Algorithm Development and Prototype Maker Software Quickly into the FPGA”. The members of the thesis advisory committee were Prof. Dr. Sarifuddin Madenda as Principal Advisor and Dr. Eri Prasetyo Wibowo as Co-Advisor. The external examiners were Trio Adiono, PhD., Prof. Doktor Fabrice Meriaudeau and Doktor Oliver Morel.

In his presentation, Doctoral Candidate Debyo Saptono, has mentioned that his research proposed a tool which can automatically translate the code assembler into VHDL code. This VHDL code is actually a software source code in which its implementation to FPGA is in electronic circuits. The advantage of the tool developed is to make its user easier to implement its application program to the electronic set and to be an embedded real time system. The result of research shows that software having flowing process is better than the previous research. The developed Polarization-Stereo vision system is capable to extract the polarization parameters at every point correspondence stereo and also successfull in mapped and reconstruct 3D information even under conditions of low light intensity. The experiment results from a variety of real scenes with natural light conditions can give excellent results and it shows that the developed system can be applied to automated machine vision system.

The result of implementation on the application of contactless palmprint identification needs the number of slice less than 30% on FPGA Virtex-6 within the time needed (in several minutes) if it is compared with manual implementation.

The  Senate Committee of Gunadarma university determine This candidate was graduated with honors.
