The 8th Thesis Defence of Doctoral in Information Technology


Doctoral Program Gunadarma University conducted the 8th doctoral thesis defence in Information Technology which was held on the 30th of October 2007 at Gunadarma University Auditorium, Campus D, Jl. Margonda Raya, Pondok Cina, Depok.   Doctoral Candidate in this thesis defence was Lintang Yuniar Banowosari, who defended her thesis title “A Semantic Agreement Maintenance Method Based on the Change of Schema and Ontology for Peer Environment”.

Doctoral Candidate in this thesis defence was Lintang Yuniar Banowosari, who defended her thesis title “A Semantic Agreement Maintenance Method Based on the Change of Schema and Ontology for Peer Environment”. The members of the thesis advisory committee were Prof. Dr. Suryo Guritno, M. Stat as Principal Advisor, Dr. rer. nat. A. Benny Mutiara as Co-Advisor, and Dr. I Wayan Simri as Co-Advisor. The external examiners were Drs. Edi Winarko, MSc., PhD and Prof. Dr. Michel Paindavoine.

In her presentation, Doctoral Candidate  Lintang Yuniar Banowosari, have mentioned that her research were developing a method for maintaining semantic agreement that was based on semantic distance, by calculating the change in local schema or ontology. The contribution of this research is framework that is based on semantic agreement maintenance approach in peer-to-peer (P2P) environment. The two significant contribution are the method of calculating the change in local schema or common ontology and computational results for selecting the appropriate algorithm for maintaining the agreement.
